Day 1 – New Year “Goals”

Welcome 2010! I’m already off to a slow start with my goals (I’ve recently finished sugary soda #2 for the day). I did master a Martha Stewart recipe last evening. I made herb roasted chicken with shallots and baked potatoes. I have to say that with a small change to the recipe (I used 6 shallots when the recipe called for 16 – which seemed like a lot and was particularly expensive), it turned out really well. So I guess that I can actually read a recipe. It wasn’t one of Martha’s ridiculous recipes, trust me she does have some of them in there, but it was very tasty. I just sent Nate off to the grocery store so I can attempt recipe numero dos – orange-soy pork chops and sauteed green beans. Stay tuned.

Besides the obvious sugary soda slip up, I haven’t exactly worked on my other two goals. Although, I am writing a blog and I suppose I did work on a press release today so I did write more. I have to pick up my first book of the challenge to prove I’ve read more. I also haven’t weighed myself today. I think that would be a depressing thing to do on New Year’s Day. I’ll give that one a go tomorrow. Please forgive me if I don’t divulge my weight on the blog. I don’t think I’m that brave.

you are doing a lot better than I am! Had lasagna and bread pudding today. Guess I am destined to die fat and unhappy 🙂

Well, the dish I prepared tonight started with butter. I may have to rethink the cooking and the losing weight goal. They may be mutually exclusive. 😉

Those goals are not mutually exclusive. You just have to have the right recipes. I have a bunch of Weight Watchers cookbooks. Even if you’re not doing WW, there are a lot of yummy recipes in those that are healthy (and many that are not that complicated). I’m willing to loan them to you if you’re interested. I can give them to Olya to give to you. Trust me, I’m on the lose weight bandwagon with you. I’m trying to cut out snacks first (was OK until the free donuts this morning). In Feb when the new session starts at work, I’m joining WW again. Sad to say that I have about 80-90 pounds I need to lose. I lost 40 the first time, before I had my son, so I know it works.
